What is V.S.I.B?

V.S.I.B (Vehicle Security Installation Board)

Many UK insurance companies offer premium discounts to car insurers, but only if your car is fitted with a Thatcham listed security system that has been installed by a professional VSIB recognised installer. In fact, if your vehicle falls into the high risk category it may not be possible to obtain car insurance unless an appropriate system has been installed.

Installation of vehicle security products

It was recognised by the ABI and the EVSA that no mater how sophisticated an alarm system was it would not function unless it had been installed correctly. This lead to the establishment of the VSIB (Vehicle Security Installation Board) in 1995. The VSIB is an independent non-profit making organisation that has been tasked with auditing companies involved in the installation of vehicle security products.

To achieve a VSIB listing an installation must be able to demonstrate good technical knowledge, commercial viability and maintain its documentation to a high level of security. Once a company has achieved VSIB status it is able to issue VSIB installation certificates.

The Thatcham criteria and the VSIB are now known and respected throughout the world. If a product carries a Thatcham listing and a VSIB installation certificate then you can be assured that it meets the highest standards.
